Well Eric left on Wednesday to fly to Los Angeles for his nephew’s wedding yesterday and I wasn’t sure whether to go along to the carnival due to a couple of shooting incidents earlier in the week! However I chatted to various friends, who had been to some of the events and they said that the atmosphere had been fine. So I decided to go along to the Carnival parades on Friday and Saturday,…. and I’m very happy I did.
The atmosphere was fabulous; very friendly, very family-oriented and the parade was great. It amazes me how much stamina these people have. We stood in hot sun for almost 6 hours yesterday watching the performances by the judges area & when we left there must have been at least another 2 hours to go!!!
I went along with my dog-loving yachtie friends, John & Julia, then we all got together on Amarula for a sundowner and dog play date (although Chui & Scrumpy are a bit intense for Murphy, their lovely 11 year old King Charles spaniel!!).
After that we went up to watch the firework display from my friend Julie’s veranda high up on Water Island. We celebrated Julie’s birthday with a delicious meal and wine and enjoyed the fireworks at they shot up in the sky above Hassel island.
I finally made it back to the boat at around 1.30am and Sunday is definitely turning out to be a quiet, relaxing day after all that…..
